~The Power and Benefits Of Prayer Speech~
The Power And Benefits Of Prayer Speech
Prayer is very powerful and beneficial as it allows you to speak in your own words to God. Some people think that your words have to be very fancy or eloquent when you pray, but God only wants to hear you from your heart. It allows you to sincerely pour out everything that's on your mind to the Lord.
Through prayer, God can powerfully heal others. There are so many examples of people hurt or injured, people have prayed for them, and not too long later were miraculously healed through God's power. My piano teacher had a situation where he was injured, his dad prayed for him and when the doctor came back in the room, he was suddenly healed.
Prayer is also a great way to keep away from temptation. It helps you get back on track and gives you strength to fight the strong tempting that so often comes. All throughout the day we run into many temptations and so often give in, but if we start the day off with prayer, resisting the temptations seems to be a little easier.
Decision making is so much easier when you pray. It gives you peace and may even confirm a decision you were previously not sure about. I've made so many decisions through prayer and I can't give you another better way to decide on something. It's hard to make decisions on your own, so turning to the Lord in prayer makes it so much simpler. And it does give you peace, because you know it's all in God's hands.
I know when I pray in secret with God, I feel His presence surrounding me with love and peace. There is no greater feeling than to know that God is always listening. As I read somewhere...it's a reminder that I am not alone, that there is a presence surrounding me far greater than any difficulty I face.
Prayer can also be a great time to confess your sins and get them off your chest. It's a time to ask for God's forgiveness which He is always willing to give. Confessing your sins allows you to restore your relationship with Christ that is so easily faltered when sin gets in the way.
Prayer is also a great way to get to know God more. It helps you grow in Him spiritually and understand His ways better. When I pray, I feel like I connect more with Him and have a better understanding of who He is. Our relationship gets stronger and I have a firmer foundation in Him. I know Him more personally through prayer and it pleases God to hear His children pray to Him.
When I pray, it's a big reminder that life is not about me...it's all about God. Living for the Lord and pleasing Him in everything that I do is something I'm constantly reminded of every single time I pray. Prayer can really humble a person, after all you're speaking to the Creator of the universe! It makes me feel so little compared to Him. But the thought of knowing that God wants to hear from me personally, makes me feel so special and loved.
Prayer can put you at peace when you're in doubt. I really like the way someone put it when they said..."When we pray, the floodgates are open to wash away any fear or doubt". I don't know how many times I have doubts or fears during the day...EVERY DAY. I have a tendency to worry a lot. But when I pray, it puts me in check and I can sincerely put my trust in the Lord and know that HE is in control of whatever happens in my life...not me. When I have fears or doubts, I pray to the Lord and He always gives me such a perfect peace as He surrounds me with His love.
Lastly, Prayer can change people's lives. You can pray for people's salvation and that the Lord will turn them to Him, and many times He miraculously does. Once again, there are so many stories of people praying for the unsaved and in God's own will and special time He brings them to His fold. I truly believe that this is one of the most important benefits and powers of prayer.
I hope you have learned a lot from my examples of the power and benefits of prayer...even though there are so many others. But Just know this...God wants us to pray, and from the examples I gave, why wouldn't we?
